Magnitude 6.0 Earthquake Hits Near Jacó, Costa Rica – Aug. 24, 2020
(Translated from Spanish): Between 40 and 50 seconds. That was the duration of the strongest tremor that has been recorded during this 2020.
It was at 3:51 pm on Monday when a seismic event surprised a large part of the inhabitants of Costa Rica.
According to the Volcanological and Seismological Observatory of Costa Rica (Ovsicori), the movement had a magnitude of 6.2 degrees and a depth of 3 kilometers.
Meanwhile, its epicenter was located 12 kilometers south of Jacó de Garabito, Puntarenas.
The National Seismological Network (RSN), for its part, reported the earthquake with a magnitude of 6 degrees and 24 kilometers deep, while the epicenter was located 12 kilometers southwest of Jacó.
